Under the motto “Trainee exchange for lack of skilled workers”, a cooperation between the companies NOWEDA Apothekergenossenschaft, Brötje Handel KG and WITTE TUPE & PIPE SYSTEMS GMBH has existed since 2012 to counteract the decreasing number of applicants in the field of warehouse logistics by means of a three-week exchange of trainees. Trainees have the opportunity to get to know new teams and new systems, as the warehouses of the individual companies have different demands on the employees – one is about speed, others are about strength, for example. The project “Three warehouses – three systems – one training course” makes it easy to bring the differences closer to the trainees. They learn to think outside the box and get to know other industries and goods in the warehouse. Such experiences challenge and support the trainees, and at the same time make job training more attractive.
As this project has been particularly well received, it was presented to the Federal Minister of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka, on August 31, 2017. Representatives of the Oldenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Oldenburg Chamber of Crafts and Trades, the headmasters of the Cooperative Comprehensive School in Rastede and the Oldenburg Wechloy Vocational College were also present, so were the deputy mayor of Rastede, other local politicians and former trainees of the three participating companies, who reported on their experiences during the trainee project.
Following the presentation of the project, there was still enough time to discuss the topic of “dual job training” with Prof. Dr. Wanka and to ask the politicians some questions.
The campaign proved to be a great success, and will definitely be continued in the future.
